Valid for 1 month
Why do dogs need to be assessed before they can join Social Club?
- it's important that your dog enjoys their time at Social Club, and so we want to make sure that your dog is a good fit for one of our play groups
- we want your dog and others under our care to be safe - you wouldn't want your dog playing with a dog who might hurt them, so we assess all dogs before they join a play group
- we want you to meet us so you can feel confident knowing that your dog is being left with people who care, who are professional, and who keep a clean environment for daycare
- we need to satisfy ourselves that your dog is healthy and up to date with vaccinations
- some barking is normal at Social Club, but if your dog is a barker we want to figure out if we think we can teach your dog to play without barking excessively so that we can continue to be good neighbours and provide a low-stress play environment for the other dogs under our care
What does an assessment look like?
You book a time in the morning between 9am and 10am, and come in with your dog at that time. We will have a brief meeting to explain what we do and go over any important details. Your dog will stay with us for the day and can go home any time between 3pm and 5pm. Someone must be available to pick your dog up early if it's not working out or if they too stressed or aroused. This doesn't necessarily mean they won't be accepted into Social Club, but sometimes it's better to start with shorter days and ease in.
If all goes well we will offer your dog a place in one of our play groups. There may be a waiting list, but we try to get most new dogs who have been assessed into a play group as soon as possible.
Daycare isn't for all dogs, and we may not accept your dog into Social Club. Our decision will be based on what we feel is best for your dog. We want all of our Social Club dogs to enjoy themselves and won't compromise on their safety and happiness.
Our dog's preferences can change over time, therefore assessments are only valid for one month after they have been taken. If it's been more than a month since we have seen your dog, they will need to retake an assessment before coming back to Social Club.
